WWE Planning Another Move To Counter AEW
WWE is looking to take on AEW.
On July 12, AEW will host its biggest ever event on American Soil when it takes All In to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The venue is usually home to Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers.
However, the event will now face competition from WWE after the sports entertainment giant decided to stack the weekend with several events of its own. On the same day as All In Texas, WWE will present NXT’s Great American Bash and Saturday Night’s Main Event.
During the post-Double or Nothing press conference, Tony Khan delivered a fighting response to WWE’s “consistent” counter-programming.
WWE Has Interesting Plans For NXT
On May 2, it was announced that AEW would be heading to the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia for a seven-show residency from August 27 through September 11. The run of shows is set to include three episodes of Dynamite, three episodes of Collision, and Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor.
Interestingly, it’s now being reported by Wrestle Votes that an episode of NXT is returning to the famous venue on August 19, just a week before that residency begins.
“We’re told WWE has an interesting location lined up for an upcoming NXT TV — Tuesday, August 19 at the 2300 Arena in Philly. That show comes just one week before AEW kicks off its 7-show residency at the same venue.”
AEW has since announced a second residency that will see the company set up camp in Chicago from July 16 to July 31. Tony Khan described the opportunity to run a series of shows at the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom as a dream come true.
