Does WWE Plan On Using Penta & Rey Fenix As A Team?
Penta and Rey Fenix both work for WWE, so fans are wondering when the Lucha Brothers will reunite as a team.
The WWE Raw brand has been the home of Penta, who has risen to the ranks of contender for the Intercontinental. Meanwhile, Penta’s brother Rey Fenix recently debuted on SmackDown.
At WrestleMania 41 Saturday, Rey Fenix subbed in for an injured Rey Mysterio against El Grande Americano. Unfortunately for Fenix, he lost due to Americano’s underhanded tactics, and as a result, Fenix failed to win his WrestleMania debut match.
Penta was involved in a fatal 4-way match for the Intercontinental Title with Bron Breakker, Dominik Mysterio, and Finn Balor. Mysterio ended up getting the win and the title by hitting a Frog Splash on his friend Balor, while Breakker was protected because he lost the title without being pinned.
Before signing with WWE, Penta and Fenix teamed up a lot as The Lucha Brothers. In AEW, they were Tag Team Champions and Trios Tag Team Champions (with Pac) while having legendary matches with the likes of The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.
WWE Plans To Team Up Penta And Rey Fenix
Even though Penta and Fenix work together in WWE, the brothers have yet to interact on television.
The good news for fans who want to see the Lucha Bros reunited is that Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reports that it will likely happen soon. Sapp wrote that the Lucha Bros will “absolutely be together at some point in the future.” Sapp noted that someone associated with WWE’s creative team believes the company felt that the brothers could do well on their own and then create a big moment when they reunite.
In recent years, WWE has done the annual Draft to separate the Raw and SmackDown rosters in May, so if they do that again this year, then Penta and Fenix may get drafted on the same show to reunite them as the Lucha Bros tag team.
