WWE Plan Brock Lesnar Match Head-To-Head With AEW

Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar is back in WWE, and now it seems fans know when he’ll face off with John Cena after missing out on Clash In Paris.

Brock Lesnar returned to WWE at SummerSlam, where he attacked John Cena after Cena had lost the WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes.

The last time fans had seen Lesnar was back at SummerSlam in 2023. A decision was made not to bring Lesnar back at the Royal Rumble in 2024 after he was implicated in the Vince McMahon sexual abuse lawsuit. All of that has meant not all fans were thrilled to see Brock Lesnar back, and his return faced significant backlash online.

John Cena was surprisingly challenged to a match at Clash In Paris on August 31st by Logan Paul, leaving many wondering where a match with Lesnar would fit into the final few months of Cena’s career. And it seems WWE is saving that match to cause maximum damage.

Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena Head-To-Head With AEW

WWE is adding a main roster PLE on the same day AEW All Out takes place. WWE’s show is set to take place on September 20th in Indianapolis, Indiana, while All Out emanates from Toronto. While WWE has run several NXT shows against AEW events, this is the first time a main roster PLE has run against one of Tony Khan’s PPVs.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that WWE’s plan is to have Brock Lesnar face John Cena on the Indianapolis show:

It is – it could change – but the main event of this show is Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena, so it’s a big one. That’s why Brock’s not in Paris, because of this. They wanted him for this show, not the Paris show, and that’s where Logan Paul got the gig.
