WWE Personality Sends Special Thank You To John Cena

John Cena WWE cant see me

A popular WWE figure loved working with John Cena.

Ahead of the September 5 edition of the blue band, it was confirmed that it would be John Cena’s final appearance on SmackDown before retirement.

On the show, Cena battled Sami Zayn in one final United States Championship open challenge, this time as the challenger. Momentum in the match swung back and forth before the action was interrupted by Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar took out Zayn and then flattened Cena for good measure.

Writing on social media, SmackDown ring announcer Mark Nash thanked Cena for allowing him to be part of his special retirement tour.

“Thank you @johncena for this once in a lifetime opportunity. I’ve been in the ring to introduce World Title Fights in boxing, but this is easily one of the most memorable & iconic introductions that I will carry with me forever. The past couple of months having the privilege of introducing The Greatest of All Time, The Never Seen Seventeen on Friday Night Smackdown has truly been an honor! Thank you.”

Mark Nash signed with WWE back in March after Lilian Garcia confirmed that she was stepping down as SmackDown’s ring announcer. The star had previously worked for Top Rank Boxing while working as the in-arena host for the NHL franchise, the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

John Cena Match Confirmed For Wrestlepalooza

Following the wild conclusion to the match on SmackDown, it was announced that John Cena will face Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza. The match will be Lesnar’s first since losing to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023, and his first singles match with Cena since Night of Champions 2024.

Ahead of SmackDown, it was reported that Brock Lesnar had signed a new WWE contract before returning at SummerSlam. Lesnar’s previous contract continued to run when plans for the star were dropped back in early 2024, but as it was WWE who decided not to use him, it was unable to add on extra time.

As such, Lesnar was eventually a free agent for several months before agreeing a new contract.

Plans to bring back Lesnar for the 2024 Royal Rumble were scrapped after his name appeared in Janel Grant’s sex trafficking lawsuit against Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis.
