WWE People Want Ex-Star To Sign With AEW

Some people within WWE think a recently released wrestler would fit AEW well.

During this year’s post-WrestleMania releases by WWE, several veteran wrestlers, including Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, and Shayna Baszler, were let go.

Both Strowman and Kai were released by WWE in the past. They were both brought back in the summer of 2022 after Triple H took over the creative team from Vince McMahon (who “retired” at the time). Now, they are gone again, even though Triple H is the one who ultimately decides what wrestlers get released.

Kai was part of the Damage CTRL group with Bayley and Iyo Sky since it began at SummerSlam 2022. Asuka and Kairi Sane joined the group, while Bayley was kicked out on the road to WrestleMania 40 in 2024.

In recent months, Kai challenged Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria for her title multiple times, but Kai couldn’t win it.

Dakota Kai Could Thrive In AEW After Being Let Go By WWE

It has been reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there are people in WWE who think an experienced wrestler like Kai could fit in well with AEW.

Dakota Kai (Cherrie Crowley, 37). Crowley wrestled on the indie scene as Evie from 2007 until signing with WWE at the end of 2016. Those we talked to in WWE were positive on her and felt AEW should sign her. She’s a very good wrestler, has a name, and fans will know her immediately.

The current AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm has held that title four times and was released by WWE. She’s also Australian like Kai is, so perhaps there could be a big rivalry if Kai chooses to sign with AEW when her 90-day non-compete clause expires.
