A new tournament is coming to WWE NXT.
NXT has recently seen the Global Heritage Invitational take place with 8 stars facing off in a round-robin style tournament culminating in a final between Butch and Joe Coffey with a chance to challenge for the NXT Heritage Cup on the line.
Butch picked up the win in that bout on the 26th of September edition of NXT television which meant he faced Noam Dar for the cup at No Mercy. However, in Bakersfield, California, Dar was able to defeat the Brawling Brute to hang on to his cherished title.
WWE announces new Women’s Breakout Tournament
At No Mercy, WWE announced that an NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament would begin on the 3rd of October. The participants were announced with Jakara Jackson, Karmen Petrovic, Lola Vice, Jaida Parker, Izzi Dame, Dani Palmer, Kelani Jordan, and Arianna Grace all taking part.
Arianna Grace is the only competitor who took part in 2022’s edition of the tournament but she was forced to miss almost a year of action through an ACL injury. That tournament saw Roxanne Perez and Tiffany Stratton make the final with Perez picking up the win.
Stratton headlined NXT No Mercy as she challenged WWE main roster star Becky Lynch for the NXT Women’s Title in an Extreme Rules match. Lynch was able to pick up the victory after driving Stratton into a pile of chairs with a Manhandle Slam.
