WWE’s Original Plans For Seth Rollins At SummerSlam Confirmed
WWE had big plans for Seth Rollins.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12, Seth Rollins suffered a knee injury during his match with LA Knight. Or did he?
Although the injury is believed to be legitimate or the angle was at least a cover for a genuine issue, there’s increasing speculation that it might not be as bad as WWE is letting on. Both the company and Rollins have suggested he’ll be out for a long time, but there’s still no official confirmation on exactly what the injury is.
According to one report on the situation, the situation around Seth Rollins remains “very cloudy,” even though those within the company have been informed that the injury is legitimate.
Seth Rollins Was Meant To Steal The Show
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that original plans for SummerSlam would have seen Rollins cash in his Money In The Bank contract following Gunther vs. CM Punk.
This plan initially remained in place even after Rollins injured his knee at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Meltzer suggested that a storyline where Punk finally wins the World Heavyweight Championship, only to be denied by Rollins, would be a “great one.” He concluded that it’s currently unknown whether this is still the planned direction.
Interestingly, CM Punk has revealed that his match with Gunther will be the main event of night one. For some, this only adds to the belief that Rollins could make a surprise appearance at the end of the show to cash in his Money In The Bank contract.
