Will AJ Lee cause a Royal Rumble surprise?

Three-time WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee might not have wrestled a match in almost a decade, but she’s a woman in demand. Many of WWE’s current generation grew up watching Lee fly the flag for women’s wrestling and she remains on several “dream match” lists.

NXT stars Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade have repeatedly said they’re trying to get their idol back in the ring, with Perez saying she can’t retire until she gets her dream match.

Meanwhile, it was reported in October that WWE would be “totally on board” with AJ Lee returning, so what better place for that comeback than the Royal Rumble? Especially after her husband joked about a big surprise coming at the event.

WWE Would Be Happy To Have AJ Lee Back

As reported by Fightful Select, there remain no concrete plans for Lee to come back, but that doesn’t mean the company is standing in her way. According to one higher-up, Lee would be welcomed back if she decided to wrestle again, and that includes appearing in the Royal Rumble.

“She always looks like she’d fit right back in on TV, and I’m sure she’s aware that if she decided she wanted to be in the Royal Rumble tomorrow, that could happen,”

Although Lee hasn’t appeared for WWE, she hasn’t been completely away from the ring, having worked on the TV show Heels. Interestingly, those who worked with her on the project said she “crushed it” in the ring.
