WWE Officially Changes R-Truth’s Name
R-Truth’s new name was confirmed on WWE’s official website.
The 53-year-old veteran had competed under the R-Truth name for many years. However, he revealed he would no longer use that moniker following his return after announcing his release earlier this year.
While the former 24/7 Champion began referring to himself as Ron Killings, his real-life name, commentators and on-screen graphics continued to use his old ring name.
Now, the company appears to have made the change official. Ahead of his match against Aleister Black on SmackDown tonight, WWE’s website has listed the square-off as Ron Killings vs. Aleister Black.

WWE Analyst Explained R-Truth’s New Gimmick
Since his comeback, Ron Killings has been shown talking to himself backstage on a few occasions.
During an appearance on the Busted Open podcast, the WWE veteran initially appeared to be his usual self, even apologizing for a social media rant sparked by Bully Ray’s comments about his gimmick. Nevertheless, he suddenly changed demeanor, cutting an explosive promo on the WWE Hall of Famer.
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts discussed Ron Killings’ new gimmick, suggesting that he might be portraying a character with a dual personality.
I don’t think that this is as simple as, well, he was R-Truth and he got fired. And when they re-signed him, he wanted to re-sign as Ron Killings. So, now he’s going by Ron Killings, and he’s angry. I don’t think it’s like, ‘My old character was R-Truth, my new character is Ron Killings. I don’t think we’re saying goodbye to R-Truth. I think that Ron Killings is driving now.
