WWE Officially Change Name Of SmackDown Star

WWE Triple H SmackDown

WWE has officially changed the name of one SmackDown star as their career goes down a dark new path.

Aleister Black and Damian Priest have been at odds in recent months as both men look to climb the ranks on SmackDown and make a name for themselves.

On the 10th of October edition of SmackDown, the two men met in a brutal Last Man Standing match that had a shock ending. With Priest looking to put Black away out in the crowd, he was stopped by Black’s real-life wife, Zelina Vega. The distraction proved enough for Black to hit Priest with a fireball to the face and ultimately pick up the victory.

Now, Vega and Black are aligned on-screen for the first time in their careers, and WWE has wasted little time in making a big change for one of them.

WWE’s roster page has officially changed Zelina’s name, taking away her surname and leaving her with a mononym.

WWE Has A History Of Taking Names Away

Under the dying days of Vince McMahon’s regime in the company, name changes became something of a running joke. Austin Theory lost his first name, Andrade Almas – who once had been aligned on-screen with Zelina – lost his last name, and Tommaso Ciampa briefly lost his first name, but there are many other examples of first and last names coming and going over the years.
