WWE NXT WarGames Lineup Update – Two WarGames Matches Official
The lineup for WWE NXT’s WarGames pay-per-view is coming together nicely following Wednesday’s NXT broadcast.
NXT WarGames isn’t using the “Takeover” label that past NXT specials have used. It’s simply being called NXT WarGames and it’s taking place on Sunday, December 5 at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida where NXT television episodes take place.
On last night’s episode of NXT, we learned that Kay Lee Ray will team up with Raquel Gonzalez, Io Shirai and Cora Jade in a women’s WarGames match. They will face the team of Dakota Kai and the Toxic Attraction trio of NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose as well as the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne.
The Men’s WarGames match was also announced following a successful main event victory by Carmelo Hayes retaining the NXT North American Title against Pete Dunne and Johnny Gargano. Hayes got an assist from fellow NXT 2.0 “rookie” Tony D’Angelo, who attacked Dunne and that led to Hayes pinning Dunne to win the match.
That led to a show-ending brawl with four NXT veterans fighting together against four NXT rookies. The NXT veteran team will be NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne & LA Knight while the NXT rookie team will be Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Tony D’Angelo & Grayson Waller. Breakker was the one that got to yell “WARGAMES” leading to the show ending brawl.
Regarding the WarGames Match, Gargano tweeted about his excitement since he hasn’t been in a WarGames match before this year.
There's 1 match that's avoided me in my entire NXT career but this year.. it's finally time.
WAR GAMES! (-_•)

Other matches that are official for NXT WarGames are a Hair vs. Hair Match that will see Cameron Grimes and Duke Hudson putting their hair on the line. That was set up last week when Hudson cut some of Cameron’s beard and hair, so Grimes challenged Hudson to the Hair Match on NXT this week. Hudson accepted the challenge.
Roderick Strong will also put his NXT Cruiserweight Championship on the line against Joe Gacy. Even though Gacy is over the 205-pound weight limit, Gacy complained about how the Cruiserweight Title isn’t inclusive, so Strong agreed to waive the weight limit and put the title on the line.
Another match that will take place will see the NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) facing the winners of next week’s match between Legado Del Fantasma (Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza) and Kyle O’Reilly/Von Wagner.
The NXT Takeover lineup looks like this right now.
* Men’s WarGames Match: Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne & LA Knight vs. Carmelo Hayes, Tony D’Angelo, Bron Breakker & Grayson Waller
* Women’s WarGames Match: Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne & Dakota Kai vs. Raquel Gonzalez, Io Shirai, Cora Jade & Kay Lee Ray
