Top WWE NXT Star Targeting Cody Rhodes On Main Roster

A big name in NXT wants to compete against main roster stars, including the WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

Ethan Page is at a different point in his career compared to some of the wrestlers on the WWE NXT brand. While many people in NXT have only been pro wrestling for a few years or even less than that, Page is an 18-year pro who has been all around the world and even promoted wrestling shows.

Before working for WWE, Page worked in AEW and TNA, which is a similar path to a lot of people on the roster, including the WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

While in AEW, Cody Rhodes beat Ethan Page on the December 31, 2021 edition of Rampage in a match where Cody retained the TNT Title.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Page touched on that history with Rhodes while teasing the possibility of the two men having a match in the future. Page also mentioned some other big names he wants to wrestle.

“Me and Cody have history. I mean, it’s personal history. Even if I’m the only one that saw it. I’d love to get in there with him. Randy’s (Orton) one of my favorite wrestlers growing up. I’m grown now, so I’d love to handle that.

John Cena, he can get some too. He’s on a little bit of a time crunch, so that would be nice, Royal Rumble. Put that on the bucket list. WrestleMania, you said it. Let’s definitely do one of those.

Then, there’s this show happening in Toronto. I think it’s called Elimination Chamber. Six guys got to be in that match. I don’t know. You could pick five, make one of them me, that’d be great. How long you want this list to be? I could go all day.”

A future on the WWE main roster seems inevitable for Page, but up next for the former NXT Champion is an Iron Survivor Challenge Match at NXT Deadline this Saturday, December 7th.

Cody Rhodes Defending WWE Championship Against Kevin Owens

At the Saturday Night’s Main Event special on December 14th, Cody Rhodes will defend the WWE Championship against Kevin Owens in a grudge match between two former friends. It is one of four title matches set for the SNME special.

There are three title defenses set for that Saturday Night’s Main Event special.

* Undisputed WWE Champion: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens

* Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. IYO SKY

* World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther vs. Finn Bálor

It has also been announced that the first Women’s US Champion will be crowned at the show.
