WWE NXT Superstar Shane Thorne of TM61 Out of Action for 7-9 Months

Shane Thorne, who is one half of NXT tag team TM61, will be out of action for the next seven to nine months. This was announced on last night’s edition of NXT on the WWE Network.

Thorne suffered a knee injury and recently underwent surgery to repair it. Last week, NXT took care of writing Thorne off television for a while. During last week’s episode of NXT, TM61 defeated The Revival in a normal tag match. After the match, The Revival jumped Thorne and his partner Nick Miller, but Thorne took the brunt of it. The Revival specifically targeted Thorne’s leg and after they were done, Thorne was helped to the back by WWE officials.

Mark’s reaction: This certainly hurts any momentum TM61 had going for them in NXT. It seemed like they were definitely the heir apparent to DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) as the next babyface team to challenge for the NXT Tag Team Titles. They already had a built in story with The Authors of Pain as well since they defeated TM61 at the last two Takeover specials, Brooklyn and Toronto (they were on the pre-show in Brooklyn). Assuming The Authors of Pain eventually win the titles from DIY, it could have been a nice story to have TM61 try and beat the one team they keep coming up short against. A rivalry between both teams can still happen, but it clearly won’t be for a while.

I’m assuming Nick Miller will be tested out as a singles competitor for a little bit since I can’t see WWE not using a healthy Miller for the next seven to nine months. Having Miller wrestle as a single’s competitor doesn’t mean TM61’s split, he can just harp on how once Thorne comes back, they’re taking the NXT Tag Team Titles.

Best of luck for a quick recovery, Thorne!
