NXT star Wes Lee was reportedly hurt during a match on Main Event.

During the December 16th Main Event tapings, Lee defeated Dion Lennox in singles action. However, the former NXT North American Champion didn’t emerge unscathed. According to PWInsider, Lee suffered a “foot or ankle issue” and was being checked out after the show.

The news comes a year after Wes Lee suffered a serious back injury that left him out of action for six months. Since coming back, the star has been unsuccessfully chasing gold, and his frustrations spilt over back in August when he turned on his Rascalz teammates Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz, turning heel for the first time in his career.

At the time of writing, the severity of the injury is unknown. Wes Lee appeared on the December 17th edition of NXT during a segment with Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont, although he did not get physical on the show or feature on the Christmas Eve episode which was taped on the same day.

Wes Lee Came Up Short At WWE NXT Deadline

At Deadline, Wes Lee failed in his attempt to get a shot at the NXT Championship. The star was part of the Iron Survivor Challenge alongside Ethan Page, Je’Von Evans, Nathan Frazer, and the returning Oba Femi. Lee was only able to scrape one point while Femi dominated the match, ending things by pinning both Lee and Frazer at the same time to claim victory with three points.
