WWE NXT Star Blasts CM Punk For His Dumbest Look Ever
CM Punk may want to put Ethan Page to sleep again after what the former NXT Champion had to say.
The WWE NXT brand premiered on the CW Network on October 1st with a main event that saw Trick Williams win back the NXT Title from Ethan Page.
Since that NXT episode was in Chicago, WWE used the Chicago wrestling legend CM Punk in a refereeing role. After Trick won, Page complained to the referee Punk, who responded with a Go To Sleep (GTS) knee to the face to drop Page at the end of the show.
What CM Punk did to Ethan Page was a way to pop the hometown crowd that loved seeing Punk on the show and wanted him to get physical as well.
In an interview with Fightful, Ethan Page mentioned crossing paths with CM Punk in the past in AEW and then he went to mock Punk’s look as the referee for the Williams-Page match.
“It was interesting in the sense that we’ve crossed paths multiple places now. So I got to see how he operates across the board. That was interesting. You’re talking about his fashion. I’ll say the ugliest he’s ever looked is in a referee shirt. Dumbest he’s ever looked is raising Trick Williams’ hand in a referee shirt.
Sorry. I don’t know. You talking about arguably the biggest or one of the biggest stars in the WWE, maybe of like my generation of wrestlers. It was great to be able to ring in this new era of NXT on our new home channel, the CW Network.
It was a very big platform and moment and match. I’m grateful in a sense that I got to be in, I guess, CM Punk’s stratosphere or whatever, to share the spotlight. That was cool. The things that followed up after, not too cool. Not too cool at all.”
As a heel character, it’s likely that Page was just speaking in character about Punk rather than his actual feelings for the man.
CM Punk Not Interested In Talking About Roman Reigns
At the WWE Survivor Series PLE in Vancouver, CM Punk teamed up with Roman Reigns, The Usos & Sami Zayn to beat Solo Sikoa’s version of The Bloodline consisting of Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Jacob Fatu & Bronson Reed.
One of the key spots in the match was when Reigns was laid out on a table and Reed climbed the steel cage to tease a Tsunami splash on the Tribal Chief. Instead, Punk pulled Reigns off the table and Reed went crashing through the table.
The finish of the match saw The Usos double superkick Solo followed by Zayn hitting a Helluva Kick on Solo, Punk hit Solo with a GTS and then Reigns hit a Spear on Solo for the pinfall win on his team.
When asked about Roman Reigns at the post-Survivor Series press conference, CM Punk had a two-word response.
