WWE Had No Plans For Major Star To Win Elimination Chamber
WWE stuck to the plan.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2025 was a night of surprise returns, popular winners, and arguably the most stunning heel turn since Steve Austin embraced Vince McMahon in 2001.
Before the opening match of the night had even started, Jade Cargill returned to destroy Naomi as she sought revenge for being taken out in November. When the match did finally get underway, it was Bianca Belair who earned the win to book her place at WrestleMania.
Later in the night, Randy Orton returned to get revenge on Kevin Owens for putting him on the shelf in late 2024.
WWE Speculation Went Nowhere
In the main event, John Cena won the men’s Elimination Chamber, but that was only part of the story.
Following his win, Cena was joined in the ring by Cody Rhodes — his new opponent at WrestleMania. But before the pair could truly get down to business, The Rock made his way to the ring with Travis Scott in tow as he looked to get his answer from the American Nightmare.
Although he briefly teased with being Rock’s champion, Rhodes told The Great One to “go f*ck himself,” to the delight of Cena and the crowd.
However, when Cena and Rhodes embraced, Rock signalled that Rhodes’ time was up and Cena’s time is now, and the 16-time World Champion delivered a devastating low blow followed by a brutal assault to leave Rhodes a broken man.
As the show went off the air, Rock posed with Cena, who placed his foot on Rhodes’ head.
Ahead of the event, there had been heavy speculation that Drew McIntyre would win the Elimination Chamber, but obviously, that proved not to be the case.
Despite the speculation and wild swings in betting odds, it’s been reported by Fightful Select that McIntyre was never planned to win the match.
