WWE Had No Concerns Over Drew McIntyre & LA Knight Match
After a heated Royal Rumble and a tense exchange on SmackDown, it seems the truth about LA Knight and Drew McIntyre’s relationship has come to light.
Drew McIntyre was “screaming and cursing” backstage following his elimination from the Royal Rumble. McIntyre was said to be shouting about the fact that “someone had to get their moves in” at the expense of some of the stories being told in the bout. It was also mentioned that something “went wrong” with McIntyre’s elimination.
It was later noted that several talents had indicated their agreement with McIntyre and that the frustration was directed at LA Knight.
Knight attempted to engage with Logan Paul while McIntyre attempted to eliminate Jey Uso causing a mid-ring collision. This was the spot where Priest grabbed McIntyre and eliminated him. It was also said that McIntyre was originally meant to be eliminated before Logan Paul’s entry into the match.
LA Knight poked fun at Drew McIntyre on SmackDown playing into their real-life issues before they were part of a triple threat match including Jimmy Uso. At one point, Knight and McIntyre ended up in a shoot-style brawl but it seems things are patched up between the two stars.
All Fine Between LA Knight & Drew McIntyre
Fightful Select has reported that both Knight and McIntyre were fine working together on SmackDown. It was noted that although things got rough physically between them there were no issues after their match. There was never any concern in WWE about them working together and those backstage took it as an opportunity to turn the real-life issue into a storyline.
McIntyre is also said to not have an issue with Knight’s promo calling him out for being a “crier.” One source noted that the issue from the Rumble leaking out wasn’t ideal but that both Knight and McIntyre played it off perfectly on SmackDown.
