WWE News: JBL And Ron Simmons Will Induct Teddy Long Into Hall Of Fame
Former tag team partners (Acolyte Protection Agency) John Bradshaw Layfield and Ron Simmons have been chosen to induct their traveling companion and good friend into the WWE Hall of Fame at this year’s reception. Coming from WWE.com, JBL had some very kind words for his buddy stating:
I’ve always thought that inducting someone into the WWE Hall of Fame is one of the greatest privileges you can get because it’s the honor of a lifetime for the person going in. We rode thousands and thousands of miles together for years – me, Ron, Teddy and Godfather in one car. It’s real special. Ron’s in the Hall of Fame, Godfather’s in the Hall of Fame, and now Teddy is, too.
Teddy Long is a groundbreaker. He worked his way up from the ring crew to become the manager of one of the greatest tag teams of all time in Doom. He was a referee and became one of the most colorful general managers ever. Teddy Long has done it all. If there’s anybody deserving of going into the WWE Hall of Fame, it’s him.
Incredibly honored that Ron Simmons and I will be inducting @teddyplayalong into the @WWE Hall of Fame. #APAReunion#HollaHolla

Rob’s Hot-Take: I echo everything JBL said above. My first exposure to Teddy Long was during the Attitude Era where he was the slowest counting referee on staff, but even then there was always a great degree of charisma drawing me to appreciate him. As we all know, that charisma carried over into his duties as Smackdown GM, where he gave us an infinite number of memes due to his fixation on booking tag team matches or one-on-one bouts with DA UNDATAKAH! Teddy Long has left a lasting impression and certainly deserves being honored.
