Ember Moon recently appeared on Booker T’s Podcast The Hall of Fame, and discussed how she suffered her unfortunate Achilles injury. Moon revealed that the injury didn’t actually occur in the ring, but actually while she was chasing for the 24/7 Championship.

“I’m getting ready to do SmackDown the next day and they were like, ‘Hey, Ember, you’re in the 24/7 title run because Carmella won the night before’. And I was like, ‘Y’all sure? Y’all sure y’all need me for that?!’ You know whats weird is like when you know you have a bad feeling about something? So I had a feeling and I was like ‘oooh, do we?’ But, ya know what, team player, screw it. I got this. I’m in.”

“We do the run through and I told Truth, I was like, ‘Truth, you better run, I’m gonna catch you, Truth. If I catch you, I’m tackling you and you’re going down.’ And so when we actually did it, I literally caught them right before we went through the curtain. So they go through the curtain and they didn’t realize how close I was behind them. As I’m coming through, the curtain shuts, I open it, go through. Truth is dropping Carmella and I’m going full speed and I had to hit the brakes. I was just like, ‘whoah,’ BOOM, and I felt a pop.”

Moon had surgery on the torn Achilles recently. It’s a severe injury that will likely keep her out of the ring for 9-12 months. Xavier Woods is dealing with a similar injury as well. Moon has done some guest spots on WWE Backstage of late and will continue to do so.

In other injury news even though according to PWInsider she will not be cleared to return to the ring to later this year, Ruby Riott recently was seen training at the WWE Performance Center. Riott who has not wrestled a match in the WWE since May of last year after undergoing double shoulder surgery, trained with NXT Superstar Rachael Evers who Tweeted the following.

Matt’s Musings: Anytime a wrestler suffers an injury it’s difficult when that injury occurs during a meaningless, silly segment it is even more frustrating. Hopefully, both Moon and Riott can return to the ring this year stronger and better than ever.
