WWE Newcomers In Town Ahead Of SmackDown
The debut of two WWE newcomers is imminent since they happen to be in the same city as this week’s episode of SmackDown.
During a backstage segment on WWE SmackDown in Greenville, it was mentioned by General Manager Nick Aldis that there would be a new team joining the brand to face Los Garza (Angel & Humberto) in a tag team match. That match will take place on the October 18th episode of Smackdown.
That same episode of Smackdown also included a video with the letters “MCMG” appearing on screen and the words “Next Week” as well, which was WWE’s way of dropping a hint that wasn’t very subtle.
It was reported in September that WWE had signed the former TNA Tag Team Champions Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley to a deal. There were reports that the two former TNA World Champions would be on NXT, but instead, they will be headed to the Smackdown brand.
PWInsider has reported that Sabin & Shelley were spotted at the airport in Charlotte, NC which means they are in the area to make their Smackdown debut on tonight’s October 18th episode from Columbia, SC.
Does WWE Approve Of The Motor City Machine Guns Name?
Prior to Sabin & Shelley joining WWE, there were questions about whether they would use the Motor City Machine Guns name. It was recently reported by Fightful Select that WWE liked the idea of the team keeping their name and the letters “MCMG” appearing in the video on SmackDown means that the name is coming with them.
There has been a WWE-TNA working relationship for several months, so possible that the Motor City Machine Guns’ history will be mentioned when they appear on Smackdown. Sabin and Shelley are both former TNA World Champions and they have won many other championships (Sabin is a 10-time X-Division champion, for example) as well.
As the Motor City Machine Guns, Sabin & Shelley held TNA’s Tag Team Titles a total of three times.
