WWE Newcomer Competes In First Match

A WWE superstar who recently signed with the company has officially competed in a match.

Blake Monroe officially signed her WWE contract on the June 17th edition of NXT as a highly coveted superstar who has a bright future.

Many wrestling fans are already familiar with Monroe, as she had a lot of success in AEW under the name Mariah May. During her AEW run, Monroe won the Women’s World Title and had a memorable rivalry with “Timeless” Toni Storm.

That AEW run lasted less than two years because Monroe was ready to live her dream as a WWE superstar, so when she was contractually able to sign in June, she did and now she’s Blake Monroe.

It appears as though WWE has big plans for Monroe since she was attacked by NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne and her Fatal Influence group during Monroe’s contract signing. That should position Monroe as a top female star on the NXT brand.

The WWE NXT brand does live events in the state of Florida, and when they had a show in Fort Pierce, Florida, on Friday night, Monroe was in action for her first official WWE match.

At the show, Monroe beat fellow NXT newcomer Lainey Reid in singles action in what was Monroe’s first match since AEW Revolution from over three months ago in March.

“I’m Officially A WWE Superstar” – Blake Monroe

Following her official WWE debut, Blake Monroe posted a vlog on YouTube, where she spoke about her WWE dream and how it was the greatest achievement of her life.

“I didn’t think I was going to be in WWE and it still doesn’t really feel real to me, and I don’t know if I’m going to share this one because this is so personal — but this is maybe thus far the greatest achievement of my life to be a part of WWE.”

As she continued, Blake discussed how she had fallen in love with wrestling again and how her family had helped motivate her.

“I don’t know, I think I felt a little dejected at the end of last year and I didn’t know [WWE] was an option for me. And I started training again — I actually started training at Flatbacks, which is an amazing school. I was training in Atlanta, and I just fell in love with wrestling again.

I fell in love with wrestling again, and I felt like I was back in the game and I wanted to do so much more. And I spoke to my manager and he said ‘I believe in you.’ And I spoke to people around me and they were like ‘I believe in you.’

And I spoke to my parents who were really the big ones, and even my dad said ‘Life isn’t a dress rehearsal you get one go this is your dream since you were a little kid.’ And so everything happened really quickly. And I’m doing it, I am officially a WWE superstar. I’m debuting at NXT tonight.”
