Why WWE Talent Have Mixed Feelings About Netflix’s “WWE Unreal” Docuseries

WWE Unreal

“WWE Unreal” is a new Netflix sports documentary series that shows what happens behind the scenes of WWE. It covers everything from how storylines are created to the real lives of WWE Superstars and staff. The show gives fans a closer look at the wrestling world, from the writing room to big events like WrestleMania.

The series premiered on July 29, 2025, and has five episodes on Netflix. It features many famous WWE stars like Triple H, CM Punk, John Cena, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Charlotte Flair, and The Rock. Critics and viewers have praised the show for its honest and detailed view of the wrestling business, showing parts of the industry that fans usually don’t see.

WWE Talents Were Not Aware of Being Filmed for the Documentary

While it looks like WWE and Netflix may continue the series, there is no official announcement about season two yet. Fightful Select reported that the show’s director, Chris Weaver, was backstage filming during Seth Rollins’ Money in the Bank cash-in, and this will probably be included in future episodes.

Inside WWE, wrestlers and staff have mixed opinions about the documentary. Some talent were surprised to find out they were being filmed for the series. Although being filmed was included in their contracts and signs remind them of this, some feel that the Gorilla position, the backstage area where emotions run high, is less private now.

This has made some wrestlers uncomfortable because they lose a place to be vulnerable away from cameras. Also, the wrestlers featured in the show said they have not received any extra pay for appearing. While many are okay with this, they wanted to point it out.
