Cody Rhodes seemingly confirmed that a current WWE name will never wrestle again.

Abyss had a legendary career in TNA, where he held many titles between 2002 and 2019, including the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and the TNA World Tag Team Championship.

The 51-year-old was even inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame before moving to WWE six years ago. He is currently retired from in-ring competition and works as a backstage producer in the Stamford-based company.

The American Nightmare recently revealed on the latest episode of his What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast that he tried to bring Abyss out of retirement to compete in the Royal Rumble, but failed.

Meanwhile, Rhodes acknowledged that it was now too late, seemingly confirming that Abyss would never wrestle again.

One that I’ve been trying for years and just not gonna happen. I keep trying to get Abyss into the Royal Rumble… Yeah. Some things are too late. [H/T: Sportskeeda]

Abyss Confirmed He Will Never Wrestle In WWE

The TNA legend last competed in 2019. After signing with the Stamford-based company, many wondered if he would ever wrestle inside a WWE ring.

In a recent interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, the 51-year-old shut down these speculations, stating that he was done with in-ring competition.

To answer quite frankly, I’m done. I don’t have plans to ever wrestle again,

Never say never, but I don’t see it in the cards, and I don’t want it in the cards. I’m so happy what I’m doing as a producer.
