WWE Filming Movie Parody Promos For WrestleMania 39
When WrestleMania Goes Hollywood this year, WWE plans on airing some movie parody promos just like they did in the past.
This year’s WrestleMania 39 event takes place on April 1st and April 2nd from SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, home of the NFL’s Rams (the reigning Super Bowl Champions for two more days) and Chargers.
It will be the first time that WrestleMania has been in Los Angeles since WM21 in 2005. At that event, Batista beat Triple H to become a World Champion for the first time, John Cena defeated JBL to win his first WWE Title and Kurt Angle defeated Shawn Michaels in an all-time classic match that is still talked about to this day.
That WrestleMania 21 event was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, but since then, WrestleMania has gotten a lot bigger and only takes place in stadiums.
Something that is remembered fondly about WrestleMania 21 also is that WWE did movie parody promos featuring stars like Eddie Guerrero, Booker T, Batista, John Cena, John Bradshaw Layfield, Kurt Angle, Triple H and many others. For example, in Cena and JBL’s case, they did a parody of Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men except they talked about WrestleMania instead of the dialogue from the film.
Recently, WWE has also been promoting those same WrestleMania 21 promo videos on social media as well as during their TV broadcasts.
It has been reported by WrestleVotes on Twitter that WWE is bringing back the WrestleMania parody promos for this year’s Hollywood event.
“I’m hearing WWE has begun filming brand new “movie parody” promos similar to those from WrestleMania 21. Miz, McIntyre, Sheamus, Brutes & Street Profits all expected to be included in the promotion for “WrestleMania Goes Hollywood.””
