Why WWE Really Moved Tiffany Stratton Women’s Title Match Off Wrestlepalooza Card
An update has been provided about why Tiffany Stratton’s next title defense will be on SmackDown rather than Wrestlepalooza.
Tiffany Stratton was supposed to be in action at NXT Homecoming this past Tuesday. However, the WWE Women’s Champion, Stratton, was removed from the match due to not being medically cleared, so Lyra Valkyria replaced Stratton in the match. Valkyria won a 6-woman tag with Rhea Ripley and Stephanie Vaquer over Fatal Influence in the main event of the show.
In the days leading up to the final WWE SmackDown episode before Wrestlepalooza, it was reported by many fans that there was a t-shirt at the Wrestlepalooza store that had a graphic showing that Tiffany Stratton would defend the WWE Women’s Title against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax at Wrestlepalooza in Indianapolis.
On WWE SmackDown in Toledo, Nia Jax was in the ring doing a promo, talking about how she destroyed Stratton and Cargill after those two women had a match that ended in a double countout. Stratton interrupted to trash Jax for constantly getting involved in her matches, while Cargill showed up to try to fight Jax. There was security to break it up.
SmackDown GM Nick Aldis was on the scene, and many fans likely thought he would book the Stratton-Cargill-Jax triple threat for Wrestlepalooza as the sixth match on the show. Nope. Instead, Aldis announced Stratton would defend the WWE Women’s Title against Jax and Cargill on the September 26th episode of SmackDown in Orlando.
WWE Changed Their Mind After Putting Tiffany Stratton’s Match On Wrestlepalooza T-Shirt
The reason WWE changed the Tiffany Stratton match at Wrestlepalooza is because of a timing issue, apparently. PWInsider Elite reported that Stratton isn’t injured and WWE decided to move the Women’s Title match to SmackDown from Wrestlepalooza because they didn’t want the PLE to be overstacked.
Some WWE fans may respond to that by saying that Wrestlepalooza only has five matches, so it is not a big card. However, there are plenty of major names on it.
