Two More Wrestlers Qualify For WWE Money In The Bank
There were two more Money in the Bank qualifying matches on WWE SmackDown, and LA Knight was one of the big winners.
The next PLE on the WWE calendar is the annual Money in the Bank event, which will take place on Saturday, June 7th, in Los Angeles.
It was 20 years ago at WrestleMania 21 in 2005 when the Money in the Bank concept started. Whoever wins the briefcase can “cash in” the briefcase on any champion they want, and they have a whole year to do it.
After the Women’s Money in the Bank was added in 2017, there will be two MITB matches at the PLE, which the fans love due to the chaos and big bumps involving ladders.
The first Money in the Bank qualifying match on SmackDown in Savannah featured the women’s division. The matchup was between former Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, new signee Giulia, and the Women’s US Champion Zelina Vega. Before the match, Flair said she wanted to win because she’s done everything in WWE except win Money in the Bank.
There was a lot of excitement in the match as Flair, Giulia, and Vega all nearly won at different points. The finish saw Flair applying the Figure Eight submission on Vega, but Giulia jumped off the top rope and hit a double foot stomp on Flair’s left leg to break it up. Giulia, who signed with WWE SmackDown just one week earlier, hit a Northern Lights Bomb on Vega for the win.
That win means Giulia is in the Women’s Money in the Bank match with Alexa Bliss, Rhea Ripley, Roxanne Perez, and two more women.
LA Knight Qualifies For WWE Money In The Bank
There was also a Men’s Money in the Bank Qualifying Match on SmackDown. That match featured LA Knight, Aleister Black, and Shinsuke Nakamura.
Like the women’s match before it, all three competitors looked like they could get the win. After Black hit a Black Mass kick on Nakamura, it looked like Black might win, but Knight threw Black out of the ring, and Knight covered Nakamura to “steal the pin” for the victory.
LA Knight’s win means he’ll join Solo Sikoa in the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Like Knight, Solo is a SmackDown wrestler. There are no Raw wrestlers in the match yet, but there will be more qualifying matches this coming Monday on Raw to see who else will be part of the match.
