WWE Making Drastic Cuts To Schedule

WWE have opted to make a significant reduction to the number of Live Events during summer 2024.

The company will embark upon far fewer main roster Live Events than previous years during the summer season whilst also presenting just a handful of non-televised NXT shows during the same period.

Commenting on the planned changes in a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Daily Update, prominent wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer highlighted an increase in travel schedule as the reason behind the decision:

“WWE has cut way back this summer on house shows as well as NXT shows. There are only a few main roster house shows this summer and only five NXT house shows this summer.”

An increase in global travel would certainly be an understandable reason for the reduction in schedule, with the company having already held five Premium Live Events outside of the United States in 2024 including Money In The Bank on 6th July, which emanated from Toronto, Canada.

Trips to the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Australia and France have already taken place whilst the Superstars of WWE will soon be headed to compete in Mexico and Japan before the next international PLE, Bash In Berlin, set to take place in Germany on 31st August.

WWE Legend Announces Retirement

Legendary former WWE Champion John Cena will be keeping a keen eye on the upcoming schedule after announcing that 2025 will mark his final year as an active competitor.

An emotional Cena made a surprise appearance during Money In The Bank in Toronto to deliver the shock news to fans. Whilst an exact retirement date is unknown, he confirmed that WrestleMania 41 will be his last.
