Gunther vs. Goldberg is officially set, and tensions are high.

The WWE Universe was shocked when Da Man returned on the July 7 edition of Monday Night RAW, confronting Gunther in a heated face-off that ended with a challenge for Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta on July 12.

Their beef started brewing months ago after The Ring General made some bold jabs about Goldberg’s age and limited arsenal. Now, it’s all come to a head, with what is being billed as the Hall of Famer’s final WWE match.

Dutch Mantell Warns WWE About Booking Gunther vs. Goldberg

Before Goldberg’s return was even confirmed, wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell shared his candid thoughts about the possibility of a showdown between the two powerhouses. Speaking on Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, Mantell urged WWE to tread carefully when booking the match outcome.

“Well, I think he [Goldberg] should have left five years ago and stayed gone. He has written this damn retirement or coming out of retirement thing forever. But I do think they better be very careful [about] how that match ends. Because if he [Gunther] beats Goldberg, I think it’s gonna p**s people off. I do. This Saturday Night Showdown could shake up the landscape, as this showdown is more than a dream match; it’s a generational collision with serious booking consequences. With WWE marketing this as the former World Heavyweight Champion’s retirement bout, the expectations are sky-high.

Mantell believes anything less than a fitting farewell could alienate fans and potentially hurt the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion’s momentum, particularly if he walks out of Atlanta as the man who “ended” Da Man.
