WWE Make Major Title Split At WrestleMania 40
Finn Balor and Damian Priest faced an uphill struggle to keep their title at WrestleMania and now a major championship split has taken place.
At WrestleMania 40, The Judgment Day’s Damian Priest and Finn Balor put their WWE Tag Team Championship on the line against five other teams in a ladder match. The New Day, DIY, A-Town Down Under, New Catch Republic, and Awesome Truth all had their chance to win gold on the grandest stage of them all and WWE made sure that there were two opportunities for those involved.
Since May 2022 when The Usos defeated RK-Bro, the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships have been merged to form the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Title but at WrestleMania that all changed.
WWE Split Tag Team Titles At WrestleMania
Michael Cole confirmed on Raw in Brooklyn, New York that the ladder match will have all four title belts hanging above the ring but they are to be pulled down one set at a time. Once the first pair of title belts has been pulled down, the match will continue until the second pair has been retrieved.
That has now happened and there are once again two sets of tag team champions on WWE’s main roster.
AS DIY and The Awesome Truth came to an arrangement to claim one set of titles each, A-Town Down Under played spoiler as Grayson Waller grabbed the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. However, instead of immediately also grabbing the Raw title in the empty ring, they postured allowing the match to go on.
The wild action continued and the fans in Philadelphia went wild as R-Truth managed to dump Damian Priest out of the ring just as Priest had dumped him out of The Judgment Day to capture the Raw Tag Team Championship for himself and The Miz.
