WWE Legend Makes Major Claim About Goldberg’s Chances Of Beating Gunther
A WWE Hall of Famer believes that the company should pull the trigger on Goldberg beating Gunther for the World Heavyweight Title.
The World Heavyweight Title will be on the line at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12th in Atlanta as Gunther defends the gold against WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg.
For the 58-year-old Goldberg, it’s his first WWE match in over three years, and he has said it’s likely his retirement match. However, in the world of professional wrestling, many people don’t stay retired.
Since it might be Bill’s final match, most people likely assume that he’ll put over Gunther, and Gunther’s reign as champion will continue.
John Bradshaw Layfield (aka JBL) is a WWE Hall of Famer who knows what it’s like to be a WWE Champion. According to JBL on the Something to Wrestle podcast, Goldberg should beat Gunther.
“I think he’s got a shot. The whole thing looks like a cascading effect. You take the title off of Jey Uso and put it on Gunther, so you have a really good heel. Goldberg against a babyface would not be as appealing, but you’ve got this wonderful heel in Gunther, a guy who can do anything and certainly make Goldberg look good. Not that Goldberg needs it, by the way.
Goldberg was the one star that was kicking our ass that WCW created.”
A few minutes later on the podcast, JBL went so far as to say that he thinks Goldberg should beat Gunther for the World Heavyweight Title.
“Would I do something with Goldberg here? Yes, yes. You wanna create some buzz? Do something different with Goldberg than just Gunther going over.”
Goldberg Supports Bron Breakker Continuing To Use The Spear
One of Goldberg’s signature moves is the Spear. He uses that move to set up for the Jackhammer, which is his finishing move. Goldberg recently stated that he thinks Bron Breakker should be the only person allowed to use the Spear in WWE moving forward.
“I had the conversation last night with Bron. I told him my feelings on it, that I think, 1,000%, he’s the only human being in WWE that should be doing that. I know I’ll catch a lot of hell for that, but I don’t care. That’s the truth. It is what it is.”
The lineup for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12th in Atlanta looks like this right now:
* LA Knight vs. Seth Rollins
* Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre
* United States Championship: Solo Sikoa vs. Jacob Fatu
* World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther vs. Bill Goldberg
