WWE Make Major Change As Title Tournament Finalists Named
A new championship is set to be fought over in WWE but the company has pulled a tournament final from Raw’s Netflix premiere.
Following the announcement on SmackDown that WWE was introducing a Women’s United States Championship, Raw was not to be left behind as a Women’s Intercontinental Title is also on the way.
A tournament was made with 12 of the red brand’s female stars getting their chance to write their name in the history books but now that field has been whittled down to just two.
WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title Match Made
On the final edition of Raw on the USA Network, the two semi-final matches took place in the tournament as Zoey Stark faced Dakota Kai and Lyra Valkyria took on IYO SKY. Dakota Kai booked her place in the final but it won’t be a Damage CTRL affair as Valkyria picked up the win over SKY.
Originally WWE had planned the Intercontinental Title tournament for Raw’s Netflix premiere but that has now been changed. Instead, the final between Valkyria and Kai will take place one week later on the January 13 episode of Raw.
Dakota Kai has never held singles gold in the company having been both an NXT and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion while Lyra Valkyria has never held a title on the main roster.
