WWE Main Roster Plans For Oba Femi Revealed
Oba Femi is making the much-awaited jump from NXT to the main roster
Oba Femi is one of WWE NXT’s top stars and has been one of the brand’s most dominant champions. He holds the record for the longest ever NXT North American Championship reign at 273 days.
He was the NXT world champion until the New Year’s Evil show in Florida on January 6th, 2026, when he successfully retained the title by defeating TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater.
In a symbolic gesture after the match, Oba Femi placed the belt in the middle of the ring and walked away. This gesture made it clear that his move to WWE’s main roster is now happening, signalling the end of his NXT run.
Oba Femi Will Debut On WWE Raw Into The Main Event Scene
Vignettes of Femi have been playing for weeks on both Raw and SmackDown. After WWE’s social media page officially declared the NXT title vacant, speculations began about Femi’s move up to the main roster.
WrestleVotes Radio reports that Femi will be joining the Raw brand and will be near the top of the main event card with a possible involvement in WrestleMania 42.
Oba Femi’s last bout with a WWE star was his much-praised match with Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event (SNME) in December 2025, which was a champion vs champion match. The bout ended in a no-contest due to an interference from Drew McIntyre.
Femi is being billed as an unstoppable force, and his not losing the NXT championship to Slater but instead winning and vacating it, combined with his no-contest finish in the Cody Rhodes SNME match, are examples of how WWE is looking to develop his character going forward.
