WWE has been planting the seeds for WrestleMania 42 for months.

The Show of Shows will be presented from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 18 & 19.

In November, multiple sources reported that the company was planning to book a third Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns main event match for 2026. Additionally, CM Punk would again defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker.

Despite Drew McIntyre’s recent win over Rhodes and the Undisputed WWE Championship changing hands, the Stamford promotion’s plan remains the same unless there are any last-minute changes or untoward injuries.

It is now a matter of how the writers plan for Cody to reclaim his title and how Roman enters into the fray.

The Scottish Warrior defeated The American Nightmare on the January 9, 2026, episode of SmackDown in a Three Stages of Hell match in Berlin, Germany.

After trading the outcomes of the first two falls, the last bout was contested inside a steel cage. Its closing minutes witnessed the return of Jacob Fatu, who inadvertently ended Cody Rhodes’s championship reign after 159 days.

Drew McIntyre Successfully Defends His WWE Championship

Drew McIntyre has been on cloud nine since being crowned the new WWE Champion.

He returned to his home country of Scotland for a show in Glasgow on January 10, where he faced Shinsuke Nakamura.

The two superstars traded hard shots, as the crowd backed the local champion while booing the babyface Nakamura. The 40-year-old then retained his belt after hitting his Japanese counterpart with a Claymore Kick.

He then addressed the audience, revisiting his time as the champion during the COVID-19 pandemic era.

McIntyre also spoke about the disappointments along the way, claiming that he had been screwed over, but he always believed in himself.
