Swerve Strickland was beaten by Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Championship at All In but it’s not been an entirely bad few weeks for the former champion Strickland has signed a bumper new deal with Tony Khan’s company and reports have suggested that the deal was so good someone at the top of WWE thinks it’s bad for business.
However, WWE might have more reasons for being unhappy that Swerve Strickland has signed a deal with AEW that is believed to keep him with the company until 2029.
WWE Sets Sights On Swerve Strickland
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE had made a move to try and sign Swerve Strickland as well as his right-hand man, Prince Nana:

Swerve Strickland has previously blamed political moves for his release by WWE in November 2021, just weeks after he was moved to the company’s main roster from NXT.
