WWE Looking To Continue International Expansion

Triple H WWE Backlash 2024

WWE is looking to use its relationship with Netflix to expand.

In recent years, WWE has looked to hold several Premium Live Events outside of the United States. This has seen the company hold multiple events in the UK while visiting Puerto Rico, France, Germany, and Australia. This is on top of its existing relationship with Saudi Arabia which guarantees at least two events in the kingdom per year.

The events have been popular with fans with boisterous crowds giving the shows a different feel.

During an appearance on the Sports Business Journal Sports Media podcast, WWE’s Executive VP of Talent Relations and Head of Communications Chris Legentil was asked about the company’s new deal with Netflix and what that means for the future. The Executive explained that the sports entertainment giant will continue to look beyond the United States.

“This year alone, we did more than half our (premium live events) outside the U.S. Look for more of that when we’re in partnership with Netflix because we’re going to be working with them hand-in-hand to select locations across the world where we can grow our audience and hopefully gain some subscribers for them.”

WWE Making WrestleMania Changes

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk has been heavily discussed for WrestleMania 41. Interestingly, the match was never the original plan for either man and only became a possibility in recent weeks.

According to the report, Punk has been hoping for the match while Reigns was said to be against the star returning to the company in late 2023.

The update came with the caveat that should The Rock decide to compete at WrestleMania, things will likely change again.
