WWE Library Facing Slow Rollout In New Home
Long-time WWE fans waiting to see where the company’s extensive library ends up may now have their answer.
In 2014, wrestling changed forever when WWE launched its own Network, putting decades worth of content online for fans to stream for the low, low price of $9.99 a month. Not only was WWE content put on the Network, but WCW, ECW, and content from the days of the territory were also included.
That all changed when WWE signed a huge deal with NBC, all but ending the Network in the United States as the sports entertainment giant’s library went to Peacock.
At the end of 2025, that deal will end, however, and there’s been no announcement as to where the old shows might end up.
WWE Library Heading To YouTube?
Fightful Select has now reported that sources in WWE have given an indication as to where the library content may end up. The belief is that WWE content will be slowly rolled out on YouTube and the company’s various vault channels.
Given WWE’s footprint on YouTube, it is believed they have a favourable deal with Google, which helps them financially. It is not believed that the entire library will be uploaded all at once. WWE is said to view this approach as a way to cultivate fans while they enjoy the buzz created when new content hits the vault channels.
Although the WWE library was packaged as part of the Peacock deal, those in WWE have admitted that the library was not the specific draw that a lot of fans thought it was. It was suggested, however, that if WWE ever received a significant offer for the library, they’d reserve the right to explore that option.
