Why Coaching Change Was Made On WWE LFG

The influence of The Undertaker led to a coaching change on WWE’s LFG show on A&E.

There have been three episodes on WWE LFG (Legends & Future Greats), which airs on Sunday nights on A&E as part of a Sunday night block of WWE programming.

It’s a show that features legendary coaches like WWE Hall of Famers The Undertaker, Booker & Bubba Ray along with future Hall of Famer Mickie James guiding 16 superstars to try to help them improve as performers and get them ready for NXT television.

The wrestlers on the show are contracted WWE talent who have been training at the Performance Center in Orlando. Some of them have been there for several months while others were signed just a few weeks before LFG began.

In a press release from A&E, there will be a season two, but there will be a change in coaches. The 2025 WWE Hall of Fame inductee Michelle McCool will be replacing Mickie James as a coach while The Undertaker, Booker T, and Bubba Ray Dudley remain as confirmed by Deadline.com:

“WWE LFG (Legends & Future Greats) has been renewed for a second season. Sixteen new WWE hopefuls will battle it out for a spot on NXT, which airs on The CW. The group will receive coaching from the likes of Undertaker, Booker T, Michelle McCool, and Bubba Ray Dudley. It is produced by WWE with Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Lee Fitting, Ben Houser, Shawn Michaels, Jeremy Borash, Rob Sharenow, Elaine Frontain Bryant and Brad Abramson serving as executive producers.

The Undertaker Was Instrumental In Michelle McCool Joining WWE LFG

Michelle McCool is married to The Undertaker and apparently, that’s a reason why McCool has replaced Mickie James on the show. Fightful Select reports that The Undertaker was instrumental in getting his wife on the show.

It was added that people involved in the series say that The Undertaker was willing to be on the show for another season if his wife McCool was involved, so that’s why she will be used instead of James in season two. Since The Undertaker is the biggest name on the show, he likely had some influence.

Fightful added that they didn’t hear that The Undertaker specifically wanted James off the show or that he wanted McCool to replace James, but he did want his wife involved.

In the third episode of season one, there is a scene where McCool helps a wrestler on James’ team, which makes the Deadman feel jealous that his wife is helping somebody other than him.
