WWE Legend Says Relationship With Company Is Over
A WWE legend has all but closed his chapter with the company.
Goldberg wrestled in his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12 against Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The 58-year-old last competed in 2022 at the Elimination Chamber PLE against Roman Reigns.
During his road to preparing for the match against Gunther, Goldberg shared that he was carrying multiple injuries and was not entering the ring fully fit.
His match against the Austrian was one of the longest he’s wrestled in his career, lasting 14 minutes and 23 seconds.
Ultimately, he was choked out by the champion, suffering a defeat in his final bout.
The former world champion recently spoke on The Ariel Helwani Show when he was asked about a potential appearance at SummerSlam or other WWE shows.
Goldberg minced no words, shutting down talks about returning to the Stamford-based company.
Yeah, I don’t think I’m lingering anywhere around the WWE in any time future—by any stretch of the imagination. [H/T Ringside News]
Nevertheless, he also said that he wasn’t dead, so never say never.
Goldberg Stopped His Son From Signing A WWE Deal
On the same podcast, Goldberg revealed that he stopped his son, Gage, from signing a deal with the company.
WWE had offered him an NIL deal, which is the natural pathway for up-and-coming wrestlers to earn a contract.
However, when Goldberg found out how much money the company was paying him, he intervened.
They tried to give him an NIL (deal) but when I found out how much they were going to give him, I put the brakes on that one. But they would be ignorant if they didn’t have an idea that it could be in his future.
Gage has had discussions with Triple H about wrestling in WWE someday.
