WWE Legend Reveals Why They Retired At Just 32
One WWE Hall of Famer has opened up about retiring from the business despite being aged just 32 at the time.
After stumbling into the wrestling business with WCW, Torrie Wilson signed with WWE in 2001. She went on to become one of the most popular women in the company during an era that has been derided by many for its use of women with bra and panties matches and questionable segments where women, including Wilson, fought for the affection of Vince McMahon, were a regular occurrence.
Wilson continued to be a popular presence until she was released in 2008. And she pretty much kept her distance from wrestling until she returned to be part of the first women’s Royal Rumble match in 2018. The following year, Wilson received an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Why Torrie Wilson Retired After WWE Release
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Torrie Wilson explained why she decided to walk away from the wrestling business aged just 32:
When I left wrestling, I had back surgery, and I just kind of was tired of being on the road. I was getting better in the ring and I knew I was going to come back and not be at full capacity, and I didn’t want to hurt myself again. So that’s kind of why I just decided to retire.
