WWE Legend Warned In-Ring Return May End In Disaster

One WWE Hall of Famer has been warned that his return to the ring could go very wrong.

At Slammiversary, The Hardys rolled back the years one more time to win the TNA World Tag Team Championship in a wild Ladder Match. However, the nostalgia wasn’t done there.

After the match, the pair were confronted by Bully Ray, better known to WWE fans as Bubba Ray Dudley. He began by congratulating the new champions before challenging them to one more match at Bound For Glory.

The announcement was especially surprising as, in recent years, D-Von Dudley has suffered a stroke and undergone major spinal surgery, after which he was told he’d never wrestle again.

D-Von Dudley Warned About Dangers Of Return By Ex-WWE Star

Speaking on The Stevie Richards Show, the former ECW and WWE star explained why he’s worried about D-Von Dudley getting back in the ring after recovering from serious injuries and illness, including a stroke:

The only way D-Von can train for a wrestling match is by getting in the ring and taking these bumps. And for all we know, I’m knocking on wood because, like I said, he’s my friend and I don’t want this to happen. He could further injure that spine in the next two to three months training for the match. And he will train for the match. D-Von, if I know him, he takes great pride – and hold onto that word – pride as well as ego. D-Von wants to look his best, and he also wants to perform just like what he’s trying to relive.

This nostalgia match is trying to relive a 1:1 ratio of the TLC matches, of the tables match at the Garden, where Jeff famously did the Swanton onto D-Von. These guys are going to work their asses off, and that’s what worries me because D-Von will work at the high level that he did back then. I’m not worried about D-Von the man, D-Von’s mind or D-Von’s motivation for doing this.

I’m worried about his body and how it’s going to react to whatever freak thing might happen. Even if somebody slams him hard, his back could just seize up. He had a stroke that he recovered from, thank god. […] With that being said, what if somebody hits him with a really, really heavy clothesline, or something to the head? Or he takes a bump and doesn’t tuck his chin in time and hits the back of his head?
