WWE Legend Wants To Referee Fight Pit Match

A star of the Attitude Era in WWE has commented on a possible return to the company to officiate the upcoming Fight Pit match at Extreme Rules.

On the 19th of September edition of Raw, the bad blood between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle continued despite Rollins picking up a clear victory over his rival at the Clash at the Castle event in Cardiff, Wales.

However, Riddle has not forgotten about Rollins and helped cost Rollins his United States Championship match against Bobby Lashley on the show. That led to an almighty brawl between Rollins and Riddle in the parking lot that was broken up by security.

Following that melee, Matt Riddle invited Rollins to join him in a Fight Pit match at Extreme Rules, with WWE later confirming that the match will take place.

The Fight Pit previously reared its head in 2020 when Matt Riddle lost to Timothy Thatcher inside the pit in The Original Bros’ last match as part of the NXT roster.

One man no stranger to fighting is former WWE Intercontinental Champion, Ken Shamrock. Former UFC star Shamrock took on Owen Hart at SummerSlam 1998 in a Lion’s Den match – a very similar concept to the Fight Pit.

Responding to a fan on social media, Ken Shamrock says he “couldn’t agree more” that he should be the man to officiate the fight between Rollins and Riddle.

Ken Shamrock debuted in WWE back at WrestleMania 13 in 1997 when he donned the black and white stripes as the referee for the classic Submission Match between Bret Hart and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
