WWE Legend Thought He’d Be Dead By 2025

An iconic WWE star has admitted they’re as surprised as anyone that they’re still alive in 2025.

At Slammiversary, The Hardys rolled back the years one more time to win the TNA World Tag Team Championship in a wild Ladder Match. However, the nostalgia wasn’t done there. After the match, the pair were confronted by Bully Ray, better known as Bubba Ray Dudley. He began by congratulating the new champions before challenging them to one more match at Bound For Glory.

At Bound For Glory, both teams rolled back the years in a match dubbed One Final Table. The Dudley Boyz were referred to by both their WWE and TNA names and were also accompanied to the ring by Spike Dudley, also known in TNA as Brother Runt.

Jeff Hardy was the first man eliminated when he received a 3D through a table. He recovered and retaliated when he delivered a Swanton Bomb to put D-Von through another table. With The Hardys in the ascendancy, they finished off the Dudley Boyz when Bubba Ray gave up fighting back and allowed Matt and Jeff to put him through a table for the win.

TNA president Carlos Silva appeared to hand over the TNA and NXT Tag Team Titles to The Hardys, but more was to come. As the WWE Hall of Famers went to leave, they stopped and returned to take off their boots and present them to the Hardys as a sign that they were now retired. The two teams embraced in a hugely emotional moment as it marked the true end of a wrestling era.

Ex-WWE Star Jeff Hardy Thought He’d Be Long Dead By Now

After the match, an interview with The Hardys was released by Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, where they discussed their long-running feud with the Dudleyz that began in WWE. Matt Hardy noted that there was one difference between both teams’ heyday and now:

The biggest difference between then and now is Father Time. The amount of abuse we’ve put our bodies through.

Jeff Hardy then admitted he didn’t think he’d be alive in 2025, never mind still wrestling:

Tell you the truth, I didn’t think I’d be alive in 2025. It was madness back in the early 2000s.

And that mindset makes it all the more remarkable that in the last week, Jeff Hardy has captured the NXT and HOG Tag Team Championship with his brother before retaining their gold at Bound For Glory.
