The hype intensified after social media teasers, The Rock’s sporadic returns, and reports of backstage discussions about delivering the match before Reigns retires and The Rock’s schedule closes the window. The match was especially requested around WrestleMania 39 and WrestleMania 40, but didn’t happen due to timing issues and fan pushes for other storylines, like Cody Rhodes.
