WWE Legend Was Stripped Of Title For Refusing To Kiss Another Girl

A legendary WWE superstar lost a championship due to refusing a storyline that involved kissing another wrestler.

Trish Stratus is a 7-time WWE Women’s Champion who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. Since then, she has come back to the ring many times to remind wrestling fans just how great she was.

When Trish won the Women’s Championship for the first time at WWE Survivor Series 2001, it was a big deal, but the reason why that title reign ended was a strange one.

Jazz beat Trish for the Women’s Title on the February 4th, 2002 edition of Raw in a match that went just four minutes.

The next night, at a WWE SmackDown taping that would air on February 7th, Torrie Wilson & Stacy Keibler competed in a “Posedown Contest” with Billy & Chuck. Torrie and Stacy were in bikinis, they were crawling over eachother, and of course, the fans loved the sight of two beautiful women like that. After they won, Torrie celebrated, and Stacy attacked since she was a heel.

Refusing WWE’s Storyline Idea Led To Trish Stratus Losing Women’s Title

Those two stories are related because Trish Stratus has stated in the past that she refused to be in the segment with Torrie, and it led to WWE taking the Women’s Title off her. Trish explained it during a recent episode of Pod Meets World.

“There was one time that I flat out said ‘No.’ It involved me kissing another girl. And I was like, ‘Hmm, I don’t understand. Why would– No, I don’t, nope. Just, nope. I don’t think my character would do that, or myself.’ So yeah, I didn’t do that.

“But then I got stripped of the belt right away. Like, literally was shown that this was, ‘You are being punished for your decision.’ Like, it was crazy. There were some crazy scenarios. I was told, like, I was just like, ‘Oh, is this happening because–‘ ‘Yep, it sure is.’ And I was like, ‘All right.”

Trish would eventually win the Women’s Title again in May, but she did get punished for refusing a storyline idea.

Elsewhere on the same podcast, Trish Stratus spoke about how former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon wanted her to pose nude in Playboy, but Trish refused repeatedly.
