WWE Legend Considered Retirement At WrestleMania 39

Rey Mysterio could be in for the toughest fight of his life at WrestleMania 39 as he is being repeatedly goaded into a match with his own son, Dominik Mysterio.

Since Dominik Mysterio turned on his father at Clash at the Castle in September 2022 to join up with The Judgment Day and form a special relationship with his ‘mami’ Rhea Ripley, the young star has been the bane of Rey Mysterio’s life.

Dominik has been shown turning up to his father’s house during the holidays and attacking him, leading him to his long stretch in the county jail over Christmas.

Rey Mysterio has refused to fight his son so far but with a WrestleMania challenge hanging in the air, it is believed that the former WWE Champion will be pushed past his breaking point and agree to a bout.

WrestleVotes has reported that at one point, the match with his son could have been the last of Rey Mysterio’s legendary career:

“At one point, it was discussed that Rey Mysterio was going to retire at WrestleMania. But I don’t think next weekend is his last match, regardless of the Hall of Fame.”

Mysterio was announced as the first inductee into the Class of 2023 of the WWE Hall of Fame where he will be joined by The Great Muta and comedian Andy Kaufman.
