WWE Legend Leaves Door Open For AEW Match

WWE Legend Credits Independent Promotions For Cultivating Hall Of Fame Talent

Could a WWE legend really make a comeback in AEW?

During a recent interview, Trish Stratus again hinted at an in-ring comeback, commenting that anything is possible if all the right pieces fit together.

Despite her full-time career ending 19 years ago, Stratus has wrestled several matches since, even finding time for a lengthy run in 2023. During this period, Stratus competed at WrestleMania, and in the Money In The Bank Ladder Match while going to war with Becky Lynch.

But what if her next match took place outside of WWE?

Trish Stratus Leaves Door Open For Non-WWE Match

During a new interview with Rick Ucchino for The Takedown On SI, Stratus discussed the fact she’s each of WWE’s Four Horsewomen except Mercedes Mone.

Although the pair crossed paths in the 2018 Women’s Royal Rumble, a match never came together, despite several teases and speculation among fans.

Stratus explained that after the Rumble no one expected her to be able to pull off a full match.

“I think it didn’t come because I really think people never thought I’d ever come back for another match,” Stratus said. “Like after the Royal Rumble, it was enough. It was a little sizzle real, so to speak, of Trish Stratus and Stratusfaction, which is like not easy to pull off but like ‘Alright, you still got it,’ whatever.

But to think of like can she come back after how many years and do a match, 17 years after my retirement or whatever the crazy number is, which is wild, but then [Moné] left [WWE].”

When asked about potentially facing Mone outside of WWE, Stratus admitted she’s a “WWE girl all the way,” but refused to rule it out.

“I really am WWE girl all the way, I am, but you never know. Who knows?” Stratus added. “There’s so much more life to be had.”

Trish Stratus hasn’t wrestled since being defeated by Becky Lynch in a Cage Match at Payback in September 2023. The veteran has wrestled just six singles matches since ending her full-time career in 2006.
