WWE Legend Launches Defence Of “Incredible Human Being” Hulk Hogan
Hulk Hogan still has some supporters despite his recent controversies.
On the January 6 edition of Raw, Hulk Hogan was booed out of the building during a short appearance alongside Jimmy Hart.
Many believe the negative reaction stemmed from racist comments made by Hogan on video in 2007, which were subsequently leaked in 2015. In that video and another leaked from 2008, Hogan used several racist slurs and admitted he was racist.
It’s been reported that Hogan failed to adequately apologise for his conduct during a visit to Extreme Rules in 2018 — a backstage visit organised so he could do just that.
Meanwhile, others have suggested Hogan’s very public and very vocal support of Donald Trump didn’t help his cause.
During an interview with Bill Apter of Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, Kurt Angle described Hogan as an “incredible human being,” but said politics had got in the way.
“Let the fans do what they want to do. I mean, Hulk Hogan is a legend. You can’t take that away from him. He’s probably the most popular pro wrestler of all time. He’s an incredible human being, but sometimes politics gets in the way. That’s what happened.”
Seth Rollins Has Different Opinion On Hulk Hogan
In contrast to the comments from Angle, Seth Rollins said Hulk Hogan got everything he deserved.
Rollins explained that while respecting what Hogan achieved in wrestling, including making young people like him fans, he hasn’t taken responsibility for his previous actions. The star said that maybe when Hogan figures that out, only then will people be willing to move on.
During an episode of his own podcast, The Undertaker said he also has little sympathy for Hulk Hogan, commenting “Sometimes in life, some things come back.”
Meanwhile, the man himself claimed he was booed because “the last time he ran hard in LA,” he was a heel as part of the nWo in the 1990s.
