WWE Legend Reveals John Cena’s Request That He Turned Down

John Cena

One WWE Hall of Famer has admitted that there was one request made by John Cena that he turned down, and he still regrets it.

John Cena became a 17-time WWE Champion at WrestleMania 41 when he defeated Cody Rhodes. But Cena couldn’t have ended up breaking Ric Flair’s title record without winning his very first one all the way back in 2005.

On that occasion, John Cena dethroned JBL for the WWE Championship, ending a long-running feud on SmackDown between the two stars.

JBL Scared He’d Be Hurt By John Cena Move

Speaking on Something To Wrestle With, JBL was asked if there was ever a move he refused to take in his career and noted that the one that stood out was a request from Cena, something he still regrets:

There were a few throughout my career. The only one that I regret was later in my career, and I got hurt a lot. Cena wanted to put Orlando [Jordan] on his shoulders and me on top and do the double AA to us. And I knew I’d get hurt because I’d been hurt so many times recently with that.

I thought I’m just going to get hurt, I’ll hurt my back, I thought physically I can’t take it. I had to tell John I just think I’m gonna get hurt. To this day I regret that, it’s not a sh*tty thing to do but it just felt sh*tty. […] I wanted to do it, I just knew I physically couldn’t do it. That’s when I realised, you know what, it’s about time for me to get out of here.

The 17-time WWE Champion has a few regrets of his own from his career, as John Cena recently revealed why his favourite WWE t-shirt was a total flop.
