WWE Legend John Cena Sets New World Record
John Cena has made history.
Ahead of Elimination Chamber, all the talk was about whether Cody Rhodes would sell his soul to The Rock. But when all was said and done, it was John Cena who stole the headlines.
With victory inside the famous structure, Cena earned himself a shot at the Undisputed WWE Title at WrestleMania, and as he celebrated, he was joined by current champion Rhodes. However, moments later, The Rock and Travis Scott got in on the act.
With the quartet in the ring, Rhodes told Rock to “go f*ck himself,” confirming he wouldn’t be selling anything. The moment was greeted by a huge cheer from fans and a hug from Cena, but at the behest of The Rock, the star then felled Rhodes with a thunderous low blow.
The event went off the air with Rock and Cena standing tall, with the 16-time World Champion’s foot on Rhodes’ face.
John Cena Holds Interesting Record
As noted by Guinness World Records, Cena now holds the record for the longest WWE babyface run before turning heel.
Cena’s impact on WWE is further magnified by a remarkable Guinness World Records title. He holds the record for the longest WWE Face run before turning heel, a distinction that speaks to the sheer length of his tenure as the company’s go-to good guy. For over a decade, Cena was WWE’s figurehead, standing tall as the ultimate face of the promotion.
While many wrestlers have held the top spot for periods of time, none have maintained such a prolonged and consistent run in the role of the all-American, never-back-down hero quite like Cena.
Meanwhile, it’s been reported that John Cena’s heel turn has been well-received backstage, with talents greeting the twist with “pleasant shock.” Several members of the locker room felt the story would bring lots of new eyes to WWE.
Cena is expected to return to WWE television on the March 17 edition of Raw in Brussels, Belgium. He’s also advertised to appear on March 24 and 31 in Glasgow and London, respectively.
