WWE Legend Told CM Punk “Moves Don’t Mean Anything”
CM Punk was given key advice by a legend of the business.
Back in 2002 CM Punk was just starting to find his way in the wild world of pro wrestling when he crossed paths with Eddie Guerrero. By contrast, Latino Heat was coming off the back of being fired by WWE in November 2001 following an arrest for drunk driving. Earlier in the year, Guerrero had missed the entire Invasion storyline after checking into rehab for an addiction to painkillers.
Looking to get his career back on track, Guerrero headed back onto the independent scene while also enjoying a brief stint with NJPW. During this period he wrestled CM Punk on multiple occasions, in fact, the pair even met just after Guerrero returned to WWE in April 2002.
During an appearance on a panel at San Diego ComicCon, Punk was asked about advice he’d been given during his career, and he highlighted a comment from Guerrero who told him:
“Moves don’t mean anything. It is who is doing them and when they’re doing them. Eddie Guerrero. He was right,”
CM Punk Was Crushed By Injury Set Back
Following those clashes with Eddie Guerrero more than two decades ago, CM Punk eventually rose to become one of the most famous wrestlers on the planet. His fight to reach the top and seemingly inescapable relationship with controversy has made him one of the modern era’s most divisive competitors, but what’s for sure, is there’s never a dull moment.
At SummerSlam, Punk will embark on his latest comeback when he meets Drew McIntyre in his first match since January. During the Royal Rumble match, CM Punk suffered a major triceps injury, in a moment he’s since described as “crushing.”
The match was Punk’s first televised bout since returning to WWE in November after being fired by AEW.
